Yesterday, Saturday December 8th, concluded COP 18 in Doha, Qatar. The outcome of the summit is embodied in a document called the "Doha Gateway" which definitely brings us  four very good news, I've tried to summarize below: 1. The Kyoto Protocol is extended under a new period that will last 8 years, this means until 2020. The Protocol's flexible mechanisms: Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), Joint Implementation (JI) and International Emissions Trading (IET), will still be working. 2. It has been established that parties must adopt a n ew framework for a global climate agreement by 2015 , in which all countries of the world are part and   should set an ambitious target for 2020. For this, it is important the public commitment of Ban Ki-Moon that has said, he will work with world leaders to make them commit to it in 2014. 3. Finally it was defined the institutional framework or "Infrastructure" to ensure the delivery of finance and technolo

El día de ayer sábado 8 de diciembre concluyó la COP 18 en Doha, Qatar. El resultado de la cumbre se ha plasmado en un documento denominado el "Doha Gateway" y definitivamente tenemos cuatro muy buenas noticias, que he tratado de resumir a continuación: 1. El Protocolo de Kyoto se extiende bajo un nuevo periodo que durará 8 años más, es decir hasta el año 2020. Los mecanismos flexibles del protocolo: Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), Joint Implementación (JI) y  el International Emissions Trading (IET), continuarán vigentes. 2. Se ha establecido que se adoptará un n uevo marco para un acuerdo global del clima hasta el año 2015 , en los que todos los países del mundo deberán formar parte y se establezca un objetivo ambicioso para 2020.  Para esto, es importante el compromiso público de Ban Ki-Moon que ha dicho que trabajará para que los líderes mundiales se comprometan con esto en el año 2014. 3. Se ha definido al fin el marco institucional o de “
